A profile reduces a live person to a set of attributes: height, interests, "looking for serious relationships." To every attribute an algorithm responds, not another person. Meeting becomes a filter of matches — and the live contact disappears.
A profile sets a format in which you have to sell yourself. Those with the slicker language win. Those who write cautiously lose at the first line. That isn't about meeting — that's marketing.
