What's wrong with swipes
A swipe is judging a person in half a second by a photo and three phrases of a profile. It's simple and fast. But it activates defensive mechanisms in both sides: everyone shows their "best version," and the real person appears only after several meetings, if they happen at all.
For a young audience this is a working model — there volume matters more than depth. For adults who already have a history, who understand what they want — the model breaks. Not because the swipe is "bad," but because it fits an adult task poorly: to find not a volume but a person.
How it works in Chitacle
Chitacle offers the reverse move. No initial presentation. No profile. No photos in the profile.
You go to the Dressing Room, choose a meeting mode, fill in a short technical card (sex, age, desired role). The system looks for a compatible partner and picks a play for the pair. At the appointed time the curtain parts.
In front of you — a live partner in the video window and the shared text of the play. The first words are already written. No need to "come up with a first message." No need to "be liked." Just read together and look each other in the eye.
After an hour of such reading you know more about your partner than after a month of messaging in a dating app. Not because of "tell me about yourself" — but because you heard the voice, saw the reactions, sensed the person across from you.
Why the role's protection works
When you speak as yourself — social filtering kicks in. You want to sound smart, witty, attractive. Every word is evaluated from within: "what will they think."
When you speak for your character — the filter switches off. You can say a harsh line, because it's the character who said it, not you. You can sound bewildered — the character is bewildered. You can sound passionate — the character is passionate.
Through this protection passes what is usually blocked. And the paradox: through the mask of a character the real person appears. The one you don't see in swipes and profiles.
"Something will inevitably not go right for you — but you're in the role of your character. And that removes the fear of a mistake."
Your first meeting is on us
Enter the theater and try meeting people without swipes. Without a profile.
Enter the theaterFour modes — pick to fit the mood
- "Read now." Instantly. If you want to meet someone right now — the system will find a partner by the parameters you set.
- "Schedule a meeting." For tomorrow evening. You pick the day, hour, partner's gender — the system picks in advance and sends three theatrical bells before the meeting.
- "Read to Me." If you want to be in the listener's role. A partner of the opposite sex reads a monoplay addressed to you alone.
- "Read with a Friend." If you want to invite a specific person — someone close, a friend, a relative. A private reading via an invitation link, optionally with an invited viewer.
How this differs from dating apps
- No photo in a profile. You see the partner over live video when the curtain parts. Not an avatar, but a person.
- No "about me" profile. Who you are becomes clear over an hour of reading. Not from 200 characters of self-presentation.
- No first message. The first words are already written by the play's author. No need to "come up with a hello."
- No matching by "compatibility." No "zodiac-compatibility algorithms." Just the basic parameters and mutual interest in the format.
- No messaging before the meeting. Straight to live contact — not two weeks of "how are you" in chat.
- No ratings and scores. There are no "right" meetings here. Here — the energy of live people.
Who this is for
- Adults. Those who already have a history and no desire to play at self-presentation again.
- Tired of swipes. Those who realized that volume doesn't lead to depth.
- Introverts and the shy. The role's protection removes the fear of the first line and the fear of "being liked."
- Those in a new city or country. The format works from any point on the map, no need to travel anywhere.
- Those who want depth from the first meeting. Not the cumulative effect of dates, but a live person across from you right away.
- Those who understand that what matters in a meeting is not the swipe but the energy of live people.
