The Chitacle Stage: where the meeting takes place

Read plays online with a partner — in 5 languages: Русский · English · Español · العربية · 中文.

The Chitacle Stage is the space of the online meeting. P2P video directly between two people, the play's text visible only to the performer in their role, silence becoming a part of the meeting. This is where the main thing happens.

What the Stage is

The Stage is the meeting window in Chitacle. You're brought here by the third-call link — five minutes before the start. On the Stage you see your partner, hear their voice, and read your role.

Technically the Stage is WebRTC video (peer-to-peer). The stream goes directly between two devices, without intermediate servers. If a direct connection isn't possible, Chitacle's own TURN server is used. No recordings are made.

After the Stage

When the reading ends, you can stay on the Stage and talk about the play, about yourselves, about anything. Or say goodbye and close the meeting. No forced 'rate your partner' or 'continue talking through a chat'.

The Stage closes — and that's it. A record of the meeting will appear in your profile, without details.

Frequently asked questions

What is Chitacle?

An online theater for two: two people read an original play by roles over video call, right in the browser. 200+ original plays and monoplays — freely distributed under CC BY 4.0. Interface in five languages.

How do I get the play text as a file?

Write to chitacle.online@gmail.com with the play's title — we'll send you the file. You learn the title during your meeting in the theater.

On what terms can I use Chitacle plays?

All plays are freely distributed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), perpetually and worldwide, with no rights claims. The only requirement — attribution to the author (Chitacle) and links to our resources.

Can I invite viewers to the meeting?
