What this is
"Read with a friend" is a private mode of Chitacle. Unlike modes with automatic matching, here there's no random partner: you know in advance whom you're inviting. The scenarios differ:
- Invite a loved one to an unusual date.
- Read with a friend who lives far away — be together in the evening.
- Family reading: parent + adult child.
- A psychotherapist reads with a client or invites two clients to read with each other, and joins as a viewer themselves.
- An RFL teacher invites two students to a play for two and observes the speech practice.
- Theater studio — the teacher invites two students to cold reading and analyzes the work.
How this works — step by step
- Step 1. Enter the theater on the main page — your first meeting is on us.
- Step 2. Choose the "Read with a friend" mode — the system will create a private room and generate an invitation link.
- Step 3. Copy the link and send it to your friend any way — messenger, email, SMS. You can show a QR code.
- Step 4. The friend follows the link, registers — and gets their first meeting on us.
- Step 5. At the appointed time the curtain parts. The system will pick a play for your pair. The text opens simultaneously with the start — no preparation.
- Step 6. If desired — invite a viewer with a separate link. The viewer needs no registration.
What the viewer will see
Viewers see and hear only the two performers on stage — but don't see the play's text. The script remains private for those reading. This is done consciously: the viewer observes live reaction, breathing, pauses — not whether you're "reading the line correctly."
The viewer can be anyone: a loved one who wants to see you; a supervising psychotherapist; a theater studio teacher; a language teacher; a communication coach; a relative who wasn't invited as a partner. Registration isn't needed for the viewer.
Your first meeting is on us
Enter the theater, create a private room, and send the link to the one you want to read with.
Enter the theaterViral and gift architecture
Every new Chitacle user gets one welcome-gift session. In the "Read with a friend" mode, the inviter spends the gift session on reading with a friend; the friend registers and also gets their welcome-gift, which they can pass on further. This creates a natural viral exchange in the project — through the play, not through an invite promo code.
Who this format suits
- Lovers and couples. An unusual date at home: between you there's no longer "what to talk about," but a play in which you need to live through a role together.
- Long-distance friends. Voice alone sounds different from chat correspondence. An hour of joint reading brings back closeness.
- Relatives of different generations. Grandmother and granddaughter, parent and adult child — the play gives a neutral space for a conversation that doesn't happen otherwise.
- Psychotherapists and psychologists. Play-reading therapy scenario: the therapist-viewer observes the clients' work, or reads with the client themselves, entering the role. More detail — on the play-reading therapy page.
- RFL teachers. A duologue as speech practice; the teacher-viewer sees the students' work.
- Theater teachers. Closed cold reading with specific students, without public matching.
- Communication coaches. A trainer of active listening and voice work — the client with a partner, the coach observes.
