Our theater menu — 200+ original plays: plays for two and monoplays. A ready-made script for an adult encounter, freely distributed under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Role combinations of the plays: two male roles, two female roles, or mixed. Monoplays come with both male and female roles. Bonus — you can invite viewers into the online theater.

Play genres in the repertoire: drama, comedy, tragicomedy, melodrama, romantic comedy, black comedy, lyrical drama, thriller, science fiction, buffoonery, absurd, miniature.

Why plays of free distribution are needed

Any staging, public reading, or video version of a play legally requires the author's permission and often — a contract and royalties. If the author is alive (or died less than 70 years ago), this turns into an obstacle even for an amateur studio or club.

Plays without rights claims — plays whose author has permitted their free use: read, stage, rehearse, record. On Chitacle this isn't a separate collection of "free content" — it's the entire repertoire. All 200+ plays are written within the project under the pen name Chitacle, and they can be used without legal questions.

"Chitacle — a territory without rights claims" is a basic principle of the project.

What's in the repertoire

• 200+ original plays. A constantly growing repertoire.
• Plays for two and monoplays. Plays for two performers and for one (a monoplay — not a one-man show).
• Genres. Drama, comedy, tragicomedy, melodrama, black comedy, psychological, philosophical, miniature.
• Runtime. Plays for two — 35–45 minutes, monoplays — 20–25 minutes.
• Multilingual. The Chitacle interface is in five languages: Русский · English · Español · العربية · 中文. The play repertoire is being translated and continues to grow.
• For adults only. We don't have a children's repertoire and don't plan to. Themes and language — for adult readers and directors.

What you can do with these plays

All Chitacle texts can be freely used for:

• Theatrical productions. Amateur studios, independent productions, professional projects.
• Readings and public reading events. On Chitacle online or live in front of your own audience.
• Education. Acting, stage speech, dramaturgy analysis.
• Language teaching. Reading plays with a partner helps in speaking and intonation practice.
• Professional practice. Drama therapy, communication trainings, employee assessment.

Free distribution perpetually and worldwide. Including for commercial purposes. The only requirement — attribution to the author (Chitacle) and links to our resources.

All 200+ original Chitacle plays are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license. This means — the play can be copied, distributed, performed, and used to create derivative works, including for commercial purposes. Without contacting the author, without contracts, without rights claims.

The only requirement — attribution to the author (Chitacle) and links to our resources.

This permission is valid perpetually and worldwide, without restrictions on the number of viewers and countries. It can be cited in the program, on the poster, in the video credits, in the channel description, in the course materials.

Who Chitacle is for

• Amateur and professional theaters. Fresh repertoire without bureaucracy and negotiations with collecting societies.
• Theater schools and acting teachers. A base for scenes, exam works, training. Online supervision of the student: the teacher joins the session as a viewer.
• Playwrights. A source for studying the play-for-two genre: 200+ examples of contemporary original works. (Send your own plays to email, we'll consider for placement.)
• Psychologists and trainers. Ready-made material for drama therapy, role-play exercises, empathy development. A supervising specialist can join the client's session as a viewer.
• Language teachers. Interface in five languages: Русский · English · Español · العربية · 中文. Reading plays with a partner removes the language barrier faster than ordinary conversation.
• For two who already know each other. "Read with a friend" mode — a private meeting via personal link. An unusual gift for a loved one.
• Literature lovers. Read a new contemporary play — on Chitacle online or at home via email file.

How we work with authors

Chitacle is open to cooperation with playwrights and authors. If you have your own plays for two or monoplays and want to place them in the Chitacle repertoire — send them to chitacle.online@gmail.com. We'll review the work, discuss placement terms, and give you the chance to see how your text lives in real readings by ordinary people. That's honest feedback on the text — not from a critic, but from a living reader.

If you're an author-playwright — this is a chance to get an audience and real performance of the text. If you're a director — this is a chance to take material without legal questions.
