The Chitacle theater menu

Our theater menu — 200+ original plays: plays for two and monoplays. A ready-made script for an adult encounter, freely distributed under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Role combinations of the plays: two male roles, two female roles, or mixed. Monoplays come with both male and female roles. Bonus — you can invite viewers into the online theater.

Play genres in the repertoire: drama, comedy, tragicomedy, melodrama, romantic comedy, black comedy, lyrical drama, thriller, science fiction, buffoonery, absurd, miniature.

Why plays of free distribution are needed

Any staging, public reading, or video version of a play legally requires the author's permission and often — a contract and royalties. If the author is alive (or died less than 70 years ago), this turns into an obstacle even for an amateur studio or club.

Plays without rights claims — plays whose author has permitted their free use: read, stage, rehearse, record. On Chitacle this isn't a separate collection of "free content" — it's the entire repertoire. All 200+ plays are written within the project under the pen name Chitacle, and they can be used without legal questions.

"Chitacle — a territory without rights claims" is a basic principle of the project.

Who Chitacle is for

How we work with authors

Chitacle is open to cooperation with playwrights and authors. If you have your own plays for two or monoplays and want to place them in the Chitacle repertoire — send them to chitacle.online@gmail.com. We'll review the work, discuss placement terms, and give you the chance to see how your text lives in real readings by ordinary people. That's honest feedback on the text — not from a critic, but from a living reader.

If you're an author-playwright — this is a chance to get an audience and real performance of the text. If you're a director — this is a chance to take material without legal questions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I stage a play at an amateur theater without approval?
Yes. All Chitacle plays are freely distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license, perpetually and worldwide, with no rights claims. Staging is allowed freely, including for commercial purposes. The only requirement — attribution to the author (Chitacle) and links to our resources.
Can I record a video version and publish it on YouTube?
You can. No copyright claims from our side — we are the authors and we permit it ourselves. The condition is the same: attribution to the author (Chitacle) and links to our resources.
Where to get the full play text as a file?
Write to chitacle.online@gmail.com with the play's title — we'll send you the file. You learn the title during your meeting in the theater.
How many plays do you have in total?
More than 200 original plays for two and monoplays. The Chitacle interface is in five languages: Русский · English · Español · العربية · 中文. The play repertoire is being translated and continues to grow.
Can I invite viewers to the meeting?
Yes, in all formats except instant matching. In scheduled meetings and in "Read with a friend" mode, the viewer joins via a personal link. The same works for online supervision: an acting teacher, psychologist, or coach joins the student's or client's session as a viewer.
Who is the author of the plays?
All plays — by Chitacle (the founder's pen name). We are also ready to place works by other playwrights — write to chitacle.online@gmail.com.
How much does it cost?
Your first meeting is on us. After that — by individual meetings or a monthly subscription.
