Loneliness Without Friends: How to Make New Ones as an Adult

Read plays online with a partner — in 5 languages: Русский · English · Español · العربية · 中文.

Loneliness without friends — an adult reality. Many discover: close friends are essentially gone. The old ones went into families and work, making new ones — it's not very clear how. Chitacle offers a first support: a conversation through a play with a living person.

Where an adult's friends go

And here you are at forty with the awareness: there are few close people nearby, and making new ones is a separate task nobody taught.

Why it's hard to make friends as an adult

Friendship requires regularity, a shared context, and time. All of this is expensive. That's why most adults limit themselves to "acquaintance relations" — and don't acquire full friends ever again.

Courses and clubs rarely help: shared activity doesn't make people friends. A different type of contact is needed — a conversation.

What Chitacle offers

Chitacle isn't "find a friend." It's a format of live conversation with a stranger. And precisely from such conversations, friendships sometimes grow — real ones, not on regular meetings, but on one memorable meeting.

On Chitacle you can meet a person of the opposite sex — that's a date format. You can invite an acquaintance and read a play with them — that's the format of a "new evening with an old friend." You can go regularly and gradually find "your people."
