Two forms in the repertoire: plays for two and monoplays
The Chitacle repertoire has two literary forms:
- Plays for two. 200+ original texts for partner reading. Role combinations — two male roles, two female roles, or mixed. Runtime 35–45 minutes.
- Monoplays. Short original pieces for a single performer — 20–25 minutes. Not one-man shows (large staged forms with directing and set design) but literary monologues written specifically for the online "Read to me" format: one person listens, another reads.
Both forms are freely distributed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). No rights claims — the only requirement is attribution to the author (Chitacle) and links to our resources. Your first meeting is on us.
Genres: drama, comedy, tragicomedy, melodrama, romantic comedy, black comedy, lyrical drama, thriller, science fiction, buffoonery, absurd, miniature.
How the online meeting works
Chitacle is an online theater for two. The play opens in your browser during the video call, and you read it with a live partner in real time.
- Works in a browser. On desktop, tablet, or phone. Camera, microphone, internet — that's all.
- No preparation. The text appears the moment the curtain parts. This is cold reading — what matters isn't rehearsal but live reaction.
- You can invite viewers. In scheduled meetings and in "Read with a friend" mode — the viewer joins via a personal link. The same works for online supervision: a teacher, psychologist, or coach joins as a viewer.
